Welcome to ETT, Des Naicker

ETT welcomes Desigen Naicker to the team as General Manager for Sales in Africa. Des’ enthusiasm and knowledge of mine equipment and the mining and equipment industries over the past 15 years hold him in good stead to grow the ETT brand into the African market.

Having started his career in the yellow metal industry in 2007, Des developed a passion for machines and moving earth while honing his skills in earthmoving equipment, “unpacking the science behind each piece of equipment and the roles they play in the process of moving earth”.

His four years as a product and application specialist placed him on mines, participating in job studies, site studies and production studies to an extent where he would, at times, advise engineers on their haul road design and machine best practices.

“On numerous occasions, I spent time at Caterpillar production facilities and witnessed the science behind machine manufacturing to an extent where I had the opportunity to provide input on key machine design before they were introduced to the Africa and Middle East territories as well as lobby for completely new models to be introduced to the market.”

Des’ desire to be customer-facing and his passion for sales grew and he has gained a wealth of experience and strengthened his network while leading sales teams during his career, before joining ETT.

His experience with ETT began some time ago when he was representing a dealer and his introduction to the company over the past two months has exposed him to the technology and effort that goes into building specialised mine support equipment.

“It is no doubt that the products offered by ETT are world-class and industry-leading and epitomise continuous improvement and development. The brand stands out from the rest,” said Des.

His passion for how he goes about his work and the high standard at which he operates align with the values and culture at ETT. His “uncontrollable passion for customer experience and execution” will be of great value to the company and the ETT brand.

Talking about the opportunities for mining in Africa, Des said, “Africa has a massive amount of untapped mineral resources. This being said, mining in Africa still holds opportunities for various mining houses, contract miners and countries for further exploration and development. Mining in Africa can only get better from here on, ceterus parabus.”

Welcome to the ETT Team, Des!
