ETT Lowbeds – Your safest solution

The ETT designed and manufactured trailer is a rear loading trailer. Not only does this feature offer the benefit of quick and efficient loading, but it also supports the safety aspect of not having to uncouple the trailer, as is the case with front-loading trailers. Uncoupling often also necessitates a person to guide the driver to couple again and could also lead to hydraulic oil leaking from uncoupled hoses.

Safety has become such a vital and integral part of our personal lives, starting with our own safety to that of each family member and even our belongings. The focus on safety within our work environment is just as much an uncompromisable part of our lives and a licence to operate. So when ETT present a mining equipment mobility solution packaged with safety as a number one priority, the result is a champion product that performs in the toughest environments. ETT’s range of off highway lowbed trailers are designed to tick all of these boxes.

By assessing how mining equipment operates and how to increase mining equipment uptime while reducing unnecessary wear and tear, ETT has engineered their range of off-road lowbed trailers from the ground up to cater for a variety of mining equipment including drill rigs, large face shovels, bulldozers and excavators. The loading capacities range from 40 Tonnes up to 360 Tonnes.

Equipped with a fully integrated brake management system which is tested and certified to ISO 3450 with OEM truck integration, safe travel is ensured on sloped terrain. All ETT’s lowbed trailers are manufactured with a single axle design – a simplified design that is cost effective due to minimising tyre scuffing and road damage while making a U-turn.

To ensure superior performance in the toughest conditions with safety always top of mind, all ETT’s lowbed trailers are fitted with a monitoring system that checks the operational standard of the machinery. Features such as brake temperature, brake pressures and brake cooling systems are monitored along with traveling speed, payload, data logging, quick reports and integrated warnings.

Enhanced safety features include an anti jackknife/truck cab protection and rollover protection systems (ROPS) for the truck cab.

ETT’s Hein Snyman, shares feedback from a customer at one of the largest open cast mines in Mali, West Africa. “A process whereby transporting track equipment from the workshop to the pit that would take six hours, or more was reduced to only 20 minutes, simply by conveying the equipment using the lowbed trailer.”

The ETT designed and manufactured trailer is a rear loading trailer. Not only does this feature offer the benefit of quick and efficient loading, it also supports the safety aspect of not having to uncouple the trailer, as is the case with front loading trailers. Uncoupling often also necessitates a person to guide the driver to couple again and could also lead to hydraulic oil leaking from uncoupled hoses.

The carefully designed rear loading feature of the ETT trailer improves uptime of critical equipment on the mine and avoids any unnecessary potential near misses associated with uncoupling. Furthermore, it ensures night-time use is much safer as well.

In addition to the enormous amount of time saved, the maintenance costs to the undercarriage of tracked equipment are massively reduced from the decrease in wear and tear due to excessive tramming.

The loading process in itself is efficient as it takes just four minutes to lower the ramps, drive the equipment onto the trailer and raise the ramps again.

“ETT Off-Road Lowbed Trailers makes the transport of heavy mining equipment safe and fast,” said Hein.

“The success of our innovative engineering design of our equipment in the field comes from a willingness to challenge the status quo and wholeheartedly pursue a workable real-world solution that is not only less strenuous on operators but also delivers productivity improvements and operational cost savings.”

With excellent performance monitoring systems in place, ETT Off-Road Lowbed Trailers maintain exceptional standards when it comes to operating in heavy-duty mining environments.
